There's nothing like Australia - Latin Famil Workshop 2011
(04 May 11 - 04 May 11)

Event overview

Who will attend?

  • Tourism Australia will accept 32-40 Latin American agents to attend the famil. The attendees will be selected in partnership with ITO’s currently working in the Latin American market from preferred partners already pre-disposed to selling Australia.
  • 20 Australian experiences will be accepted to attend the workshop component of the famil.
  • The minimum number of Australian experiences required to ensure viability of the workshop continuing in its current format will be 15.

Event format
The ‘There's nothing like Australia’ Latin Famil Workshop will involve one day of workshop appointments where Australian sellers will meet with attending agents from Latin America.  During the workshop appointments, Latin agents will be seated at appointment tables and Australian Sellers will rotate from table to table for each appointment. This is due to the requirement of translators being present at the workshop for non-English speaking attendees. The event program will include a post-event cocktail function with all participating delegates (both agents and sellers) attending. Tourism Australia reserves the right to tailor the program and format of the workshop closer to the date as delegate numbers are finalised. The event will have 20 scheduled 10 minute appointments. The appointments will be between each attending seller and 1-2 Latin American agents.

Networking functions
During the event there will be numerous opportunities to network with the attendees. Throughout the appointments there will be two designated 30-minute opportunities to network with all attendees. In addition, you will join the group for lunch and dinner where you will be seated with various partners in attendance.

Event history/ background
This is the second Latin ITO Familiarisation trip held in as many years. The objective is to educate and motivate travel sellers of Australia, who are based in Latin America, by increasing their knowledge of Australian experiences and providing the opportunity to experience them first hand. In 2011, the workshop will commence with an Australia 101 presentation to all Latin based attendees, to provide a top line overview prior to commencing each 10-minute appointment. Appointments in 2011 have increased in length, allowing attending sellers more ‘face’ time with Latin agents.
